And it’s apparently in the final stages of development…
Last we heard, a replacement for the current-generation R231 SL was likely to happen, but not clear it’d be coming to the US since all sports cars are generally selling poorly (’20-21 Corvette excluded, for now.) Now, it appears it will be coming – as an AMG-only model, and with all-wheel drive and a folding fabric roof instead of the folding hardtop the past two generations have used.
